The physicians of South Western Pennsylvania Cardiovascular Associates perform greater than 600 angioplasties (PTCA)each year. Most of these procedures are now performed in conjunction with the placement of a stent.( a small wire mesh tube that is deployed at the site of the blockage in order to keep the artery from closing.)

These procedures are performed in a hospital setting by an interventional cardiologist. These procedures are available at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, and Jefferson Regional Medical Center in West Mifflin, Pa.
