Nuclear and Regular Stress Testing

Place caption here...

A stress test may be performed in the office or the hospital setting. We perform stress tests in many of our office locations. Stress testing may be done in conjunction with a nuclear scan requiring the injection of a nuclear isotope. The nuclear studies are done in the Mercy office, Butler office and Jefferson office locations. The patient is connected by electrodes on his chest to an electrocardiogram and is then asked to walk on a treadmill.

As the patient walks on the treadmill, tracings of his heartbeat are recorded and blood pressures are taken. A technologist and physician usually perform the test. An injection of a nuclear isotope is given as the patient walks on the treadmill.  When the treadmill portion of the test is finished, the patient is then placed on a table under a nuclear camera and a scan is performed.  The final study is interpreted by a cardiologist.
